Designing Safe, Connected, and Active Communities
At JMT, we believe that walking and biking are essential to building healthier, more sustainable, and more equitable communities. Our bicycle and pedestrian team delivers comprehensive services that support the planning, design, and implementation of infrastructure that promotes safety, accessibility, and connectivity for all users—regardless of age or ability.
We provide a wide range of planning services to help communities effectively plan for pedestrian and bicycle facilities. From multi-county networks to individual trails, we focus on developing integrated systems that are ADA-compliant and context-sensitive. As a Silver Partner of the National Complete Streets Coalition (NCSC), we embed NCSC principles into every project, ensuring that our designs support all modes of travel and enhance quality of life.
Our services include corridor studies, trail and greenway design, sidewalk and crosswalk improvements, ADA compliance, and shared-use path planning. We also conduct crash analyses, accessibility audits, and stakeholder engagement to ensure that every project reflects local needs and priorities. Whether it’s a downtown streetscape, a regional trail system, or a Safe Routes to School initiative, we tailor our approach to meet each community’s goals.
JMT’s approach is rooted in collaboration and innovation. We integrate GIS, multimodal modeling, and context-sensitive design to create safe, attractive, and functional spaces for people on foot and on wheels. Our team works closely with municipalities, MPOs, and DOTs to secure funding, navigate regulatory requirements, and deliver projects that enhance mobility and livability.
Together, we can design streets that move people, not just cars!
