Duties:
- Assist with planning, scheduling, and coordinating work throughout the various phases of construction projects.
- May be responsible for a portion of a large project or the entirety of a small to medium size project.
- Read and interpret construction documents such as drawings, specifications, geotechnical reports, testing and inspection reports, surveys, maps, aerial photography, and topographical surveys.
- Monitor project progress to ensure work is being provided in accordance with contract plans and specifications.
- Prepare reports and logs such as inspector daily reports, cost to date, estimated cost to complete, submittals, and RFIs. Assist with performing quantity surveys and take-offs from contract documents and actual work-in-place.
- Assist with preparing construction cost budgets and estimates.
- Assist in the preparation of engineering documents for advertisement and bidding activities.
- Coordinate with project sub-consultants and in-house support disciplines.
- Develop extra work order requests and open-ended contract task proposals.
- Attend various meetings, record and distribute meeting minutes.
- Communicate and coordinate with team members to ensure project completion by the defined milestones and established quality guidelines.
- Work from home up to 40% of the time within a normal commuting distance from the Austin office.
- Travel within the state of Texas required 50% of time for project site visits and meetings.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, construction management, architecture, or a related field.
- 3 years of relevant professional experience in construction, to include the following:
- 3 years’ experience in facilities construction inspection and project management; and 3 years’ experience reading and interpreting construction documents.
